I Just Got Home Yesterday From Getting My Illiostomy Reversed…

I just got home yesterday after having been there for almost 10 days after getting my illiostomy reversed. For the last 9 months, after receiving a life-saving surgery and spending 21 days in the ICU – I had the final surgery to close that saga.

I have to be honest, I walked into the surgery thinking it would be easier than it really was. However, compared to my main operation where I got a resection, it was MUCH easier.

The toughest part of the surgery were the 6 days after the surgery when I was placed on a “diet” where I was not allowed to eat or drink even a THING. Yes, not even an ice cube.

They were waiting for my system to turn back on and I ran the risk that the colon (after having been off for 9 months) would not turn back on. Or that I would get an infection at the connected area.

My colon did take longer to turn on than usual and it was a painful experience, but we’re rocking and rolling now.

Basically I am home now and still waiting for my body to fully adjust. However, I still have my energy and am recovering fast (the next 2 weeks are critical if I am going to recover fully).

All in all, thank you to everyone who was such a huge support to me, I literally got over a hundred well-wishing e-mails!

What I plan to do over the new couple of weeks is to completely document my experience for those who have this surgery in the future.

As far as I can tell, I am back now and can put the entire past year behind me!

Have Scientists Really Found a Mutation In a Gene That CAUSES Crohn’s Disease?

I didn’t believe it either when I first heard, but scientists in Scotland are reporting that they have found a mutation in a gene that is actually causing Crohn’s Disease.

Furthermore, they are reporting that they can use this finding to not only help stop Crohn’s Disease from every occurring, but that it can actually be used to help treat Crohn’s Disease.

Replacement To Remicade Looking Good!

There have been more and more reports lately of patients who are either having allergic reactions to Remicade that are so severe they cannot take the drug or to some who are showing no results from taking it.

Well, good news! Humira is doing well in it’s run at the FDA and the latest test results showed that some of those who don’t respond to Remicade and actually responding well to Humira…

Furthermore, the forum continues to get very active and I want to invite you to please post your questions/thoughts and comments at the forum!
