Crohn’s Disease Newsletter Issue #4

Back

In this edition:

  1. Why The Massive Delay?
  2. Stem Cell Research?
  3. Crohnee.com Coming Soon…
  4. Videos on CrohnsHelp.com
  5. Have You Had Surgery?

Dear Crohnee,

I want to first start by apologizing – I know it was the end of APRIL when I last published this newsletter. I also run another company and we had some new product launches so I got incredibly busy.

Either way, I am going to try much harder to get back to normal with publishing these newsletters as many of you have asked for it.

Stem Cell Research?

Have you heard the word? Apparently there may be some hope in treating Crohn’s Disease inside stem cell research. I ready an article on LifeNews.com that talked about a drug called Osiris that is an adult stem cell product – currently being researched for it’s implications on Crohn’s Disease.

We plan on doing more research on this – but this is definitely the first time I have heard about anyone using stem cell research in Crohn’s Disease research.

Find out more about this at my blost post here…

Crohnee.com Coming Soon…

We have a new website that is almost done – you can go there now and watch us as we develop it – but don’t try to order the membership (it’s not working yet).

The goal on this website is to help Crohnee’s interact with each other. We will have a live discussion board and will also keep very updated information on this site about any Crohn’s Disease updates.

The site will cost $37/year. Honestly, this is just to help us maintain the websites and the team involved in helping research.  Currently I spend approximately $3,000 a month from my own pocket to keep the site updated and running (also in marketing to bring more Crohnees to it).

So, I hope you can join us – participate in a great environment.

Last note, a part of all proceeds collected at Crohnee.com will be donated to research projects that YOU (the members) will vote on. So, you tell us where to donate it, that’s where we will donate it!

I’ll keep you updated on this…

Videos on CrohnsHelp.com

Here’s a neat thing we’re doing! I found some neat videos done by Crohnees on Google Videos and YouTube.com. So, I have been periodically hosting them on the site. Some are humor, some are serious and educational.

I personally love videos and the member feedback to date has been great so I’ll keep it up!

Here are some of the videos:

Have You Had Surgery?

I was pretty shocked on our last survey that we did. Our research showed that over 50% of Crohnee said that they have had surgery at some point because of Crohn’s Disease.

Some other interesting stats:

  • About 15% claimed to have had an iliostomy bag or colostomy bag.
  • Pain was the highest reported symptom – but still it was only 18% (I would have thought that ALL Crohnees have pain?)

Closing Note:

Please feel free to submit your stories to us if you want them published on the site. Or if you want to write articles or have any information you think is useful to Crohnees, please submit it by e-mailing info AT CrohnsHelp  DOT com.

I’ll see you soon!
