Hi all!!

I hope everyone is ok and looking forward to Christmas!

I was just wondering whether or not anyone else experienced difficulty in finding a partner who understands the disease?

I am 23 years old - and am finding now that I am back on the market after a 5 yr relationship that having to explain my 'illness' to any new guy I meet starts things out on a major downer.

I try not to bring it up right away as I don't want to make it a big issue - and I don't want it to rule my life - but at the same time in reality it is a huge part of my life and I find it hard to discuss what I have been up to for the past few yrs when alot of the time I have either been in hospital or v unwell.

I think I am having enough trouble finding a nice hunk of a man (that doesn't turn out to be a total bunny boiler!!) - without this putting guys off too!!

Does anyone else have troubles like this meeting people? Sad

x

I did for a long time. I think you should just be honest and joke around about it from the beginning. If he is a true loyal man that loves you for you and is the right one, it won't be a big deal. don't get me wrong, its a huge stress on the relationship, but its nothing that can't be overcome. and its nice to have a hand to hold while in the hospital. I've been happily married now for almost 2years and he is the most supportive man in my life. so it'll work out, just be honest and open from the very beginning! if the man's going to run away, its better he get up and go before you waste your time Smile
good luck and stay well
