Hi,
I was diagnosed with Crohns about 3 years ago and have managed to live symptom free (almost) since then, however now I have constant pain and have a few bowel problems. I had a barium meal which showed a different part of my bowel was affected and my consultant has now put me on steriods for a month and changed my meds from asacol to something else.
has anyone else had something similar, does this disease get worse the longer you have it?
anyone have any advice.
thanks

| I also have chronic pain and bowel problems, it just goes along with everything. I used to be on the Asacol until my last surgery. I was doing some research after that and I read (many different places) that even if the diseased area is removed in surgery, that it will start to attack the previously healthy tissue surrounding the surgery area within 5years after partial bowell removal?? it's been 2years since my last surgery and i'm pretty symptom free still,( besides the normal pain and bathroom problems), but I've only had 2 really bad flareup's since. sooooo, i'm not sure, but its scary to think that it just gets worse!! |

Hi thanks for the reply - I have only had one surgery and that was for a fistula.
what worries me is i now have two areas of pain whereas up to about 6 months ago i only had one.
It's such a pain to put up with.
Hope you continue to be well.
